I am only going to get an iPad when there are serious productivity tools available. That day is getting closer with the promotional video of a wireframing app called iMockups. We use wireframes at Salient Drift to understand how content and functionality will flow on a webpage before we start designing. This will definitely come in handy when we need to get work done on the go.

Hotgloo: A New Type of Wireframing Tool
Monday, November 9th, 2009
Several years ago I was introduced to a powerful wireframing tool called Axure, it came in handy to build interactive mockups of websites before we started site designs. As good as it was, I had several issues with it; cost and no OS X compatibility. Hotgloo is a new beta web application that while not aimed at the high-end Azure market, is good enough for me to quickly generate site concepts and then share them with co-workers and clients.
One thing I really miss about Axure was its interactive functionality. I could create drop down menus that clients could click on and have it link to the relevant page. Right now I don’t see the equivalent in Hotgloo so I’m using it to display static wireframes. Hotgloo does have one major advantage, its a web application. This means I can work on a project at home and continue where I left off at the office and not have to worry about multiple licenses or saving files.
I’m not sure if I will continue to use Hotgloo, but the outlook is looking good.

Getting iPhone Contacts Photos from Facebook
Friday, February 27th, 2009
I wish I had the time to add a photo for all of my Outlook contacts, photos come in pretty handy since I don’t always remember a name but I can recollect faces really well. I came across an iPhone app called Vringo (appstore link) that will match your contacts on your phone to your Facebook account. Vringo Worked well for me and its free. Here is a quick video review I found that may come in handy. (more…)
